经合成化学反应形成的高分子量化合物。生成合成高分子的化学反应称为聚合反应。

超高分子量聚乙烯
相对分子质量在1.5×106以上的聚乙烯，聚乙烯分子链极长，通常每分子链具有1.0×105～2.5×105个单体单元。又称高强高模聚乙烯。

高密度聚乙烯
分子结构由—CH2—链接而成的热塑性塑料。又称低压聚乙烯。高密度聚乙烯是聚乙烯众多种类中最常见的一种。

低密度聚乙烯
乙烯单体在高压、高温的条件下，通过氧气或过氧化物等物质引发的自由基聚合而形成的聚乙烯高分子。又称高压聚乙烯。
线型低密度聚乙烯/ linear low-density polyethylene; LLDPE /linear low-density polyethylene; LLDPE
线型低密度聚乙烯
含有短支链的线型聚乙烯。通常由齐格勒-纳塔（Ziegler-Natta）催化剂、负载型铬系催化剂和单组分茂金属催化剂催化乙烯与α-烯烃共聚所得。1-丁烯、1-己烯、1-辛烯是最常用的共聚单体，会生成相应的含有乙基、丁基、己基侧链的线型低密度聚乙烯。

长支链聚乙烯
含有长支链结构的聚乙烯。

聚丙烯
丙烯的聚合物。英文缩写为PP。聚丙烯主链有一个不对称碳原子，通过聚合能调控侧基甲基在空间排布，因此分为无规立构聚丙烯、间同立构聚丙烯和全同立构聚丙烯。工业化品种是全同立构聚丙烯。
